Why you need an Estate Plan

A Little Planning Goes a Long Way

Sometimes a little pre-planning can go a really long way.  Estate planning is the process of anticipating and arranging for the disposal of an estate.  In the absence of careful estate planning, it is up to the courts to decide what happens after a loved one dies and — unfortunately — decide bitter family disputes without the assistance of the deceased family member.  This process is called “Probate” which is the legal process of administering the estate of a deceased person by resolving all claims and distributing the deceased person’s property under the valid will. A probate court (surrogate court) decides the validity of a testator’s will. A probate interprets the instructions of the deceased, decides the executor as the personal representative of the estate, and adjudicates the interests of heirs and other parties who may have claims against the estate.to the family or friends of the Decedent.
